A cleverly plotted, tense, and well-written thriller with a Sophie’s Choice premise playing on every mother’s worst fear. When a killer bursts into Madeleine’s house on her twins’ tenth birthday, he forces her to choose: which child should live, which should die.
This is a fast-paced debut that I read quickly and easily. The plotting is unpredictable and the story compelling as Madeleine battles to unravel the truth and understand what exactly happened that day. I could see the ending from early on, but the book was so well written and enjoyable it didn’t even bother me. A very compulsive read.
