The Bones of You by Debbie Howells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A really great novel I read in one sitting. Kate and the small community she lives in are stunned when they learn that Rosie, a quiet, sweet teenager, has been found fatally beaten and stabbed. As Kate becomes closer to Jo, Rosie’s mother, she finds out that the family wasn’t all it purported to be. And then there was Rosie’s boyfriend…
Atmospherically beautiful, lyrically poetic and at times completely haunting The Bones of You is about families and the secrets they keep. While I knew who that ‘baddie’ was from the first pages, it still didn’t stop the book being completely enjoyable. Steady paced with an intricate plot and well-drawn characters, I highly recommend.
