Haunting, hypnotic and heartbreaking. I would give this book 10 stars if I could! Set in a dying, abandoned town, a mother searches for answers about what happened to her son when he went missing 5 years ago. A vivid and realistic setting combine with characters with sharp edges and a haunting, emotional atmosphere that seeps through the pages. Like all of Harper’s books, it’s a slow-burn mystery, but that’s what makes everything so well-framed, so exquisite. From the minute I picked it up, I didn’t want to put it down. Utterly unforgettable, this is a dark, gripping mystery that will sink into your bones.
