All The Bright Places - Jennifer Niven

All the Bright PlacesAll the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of the most powerful, life-affirming, memorable books I’ve ever read. Everybody should read this, but especially anybody who’s been affected by a loved one’s suicide, mental illness or survivor’s guilt. At times heartbreaking, at other times hilarious, at others authentic and moving – All The Bright Places is ultimately a story about two young people and the tragic consequences of the mental illness that stands between them.

Reminiscent of The Fault in Our Stars with all the bittersweet melancholy that brings, I adored the characters and the 1st person POV that lets us really get to know Finch and Violet as their characters develop. Keep the tissues handy, as it will likely break your heart, then piece it back together. There are strong themes of suicide and suicidal thoughts.
