Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book has been slated a lot because the ending is ‘not believable’. I think that’s ridiculous – it’s a book! Obviously you need to suspend your disbelief! My problem wasn’t the twisted ending on the final few pages (which was a total surprise), but that I felt really let down by the ending that happened for the main character. There was really just a sharp dissonance between the ending and the rest of the story.
However, the book was an enjoyable read with well-drawn characters. Louis is an all-round nice woman who could be a bit irritating and dim while Adele is incredibly sneaky and manipulative. The plot is fast-paced and I definitely was gripped by the twists. Ultimately, it wasn’t a book for everyone, but it was a crazy and enjoyable ride throughout.
