Where I Left Her by Amber Garza
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A tense and gripping tale of a mother’s worst nightmare, a daughter who’s missing, and the discovery that everything she thought she knew about her daughter has been a lie.
Whitney is a bit of a helicopter parent and has some misgivings when dropping her teenage daughter Amelia at her friend’s house for a sleepover. But the next day, when Whitney arrives to collect Amelia, the elderly couple who answer the door are baffled and swear they’ve never seen her.
With a premise like that, I had to read it! Plus, I loved Garza’s previous book When I Was You, so I had to grab this one. And it did not disappoint!
With gorgeous prose, wonderfully drawn characters and shifting allegiances, the tension winds tighter as the secrets spiral out of control. Take a breath—because you won’t be able to catch it again until you’ve reached the last page! Unsettling and completely riveting.
