Try Not to Breathe by Holly Seddon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
What a fantastic book! I absolutely couldn’t put it down and felt myself completely drawn to Alex, the protagonist. This will probably be contentious, but I liked it better than Girl on the Train. The storyline was intricately woven, the prose beautiful and compelling, and the characters really well developed.
The story follows Alex, a reporter writing an article about Amy Stevenson, a woman who was attacked when Alex was a teenager who is now showing signs of communicating while in a vegetative state. Alex is on her own downward spiral into alcoholism and self-destruction, but investigating who attacked Amy has brought her back to life.
A fantastic read with lots of twists and well thought out characters. I’ll be looking out for more of Holly Seddon’s books.
