Secrets of the Tides by Hannah Richell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A beautifully told family drama with lyrical prose and exceptional imagery, Secrets of the Tides explores the secrets we keep and the lies we tell our families.
The story follows The Tides, a family haunted by a tragic event that happened ten years ago. Since then, none of them have been able to move forward with their lives. Dora is expecting her first child with her partner Dan, but she feels unsettled and needs to discuss what happened with her mother, Helen, who has her own secrets. And they both know their tragic past is to blame.
Hannah Richell has written a fantastic debut novel that seamlessly moves between past and present and explores how to forgive, not only those we love, but ourselves as well. I loved this book and it’s stayed with me long after I put it down.
