The Perfect Family by Shalini Boland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Fantastically twisted and utterly creepy!
Gemma Ballantine has a perfect life: A gorgeous husband, two adorable little girls, a successful business. What more could she want? But she is constantly juggling work and family life, questioning if she’s a terrible mother or not. So when the opportunity to hire a live-in nanny arises, she thinks it will fix everything. And it does, for a while. Then everything starts to fall apart and Gemma fells as if her perfect life is being stolen from her.
Moving from one creepy twist to the next, The Perfect Family is a fabulous exploration of how hard modern women have to work to balance their lives and still be the perfect mother. I loved how relatable Gemma is – she could literally be just about any mother I know! This is an absorbing, fast-paced read that I finished quickly and then wished I’d read it a bit slower. Another fantastic book by Shalini Boland!
