Notes on an Execution by Danya Kukafka
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A gorgeous, chilling, vibrant story with exquisite prose and stunningly-drawn characters. This is is a literary thriller you’ll want to sip at, savouring the beauty, enjoying the journey, rather than racing through to the finish.
The story is cleverly written about Ansel Packer, who is scheduled to be executed in 12 hours for killing multiple winner. Fresh and unique, Kukafka defies traditional serial killer tropes and focuses deeply on Ansel’s psyche, as well as the women in his life.
Chilling, addictive, and riveting, with prose so poetic and lyrical you’ll want to stop and read it again. I loved every second reading this book.
