Beneath Devil’s Bridge by Loreth Anne White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Using a new true crime podcast, Beneath Devil’s Bridge cleverly follows the story of Leena Rai, a 14-year old who was viciously murdered in 1997. Her guidance counsellor, Clayton Pelley, confessed to the crime, but now, as Trinity Scott begins her podcast investigation, Clayton says he didn’t really kill Leena. The killer is still out there.
A dark and gripping thriller about unburying past secrets and showing the harm that bullying can do. The book is gripping and unflinchingly honest, the prose eloquent, the scenes painted in intricate detail. Beneath Devil’s Bridge is a story that shows the repercussions the past may have when it comes back to haunt us.
