The Other Child by Lucy Atkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I love, love, loved this book! Lucy Atkins is one of my favorite authors, and this book was absolutely stellar. It grabbed my attention from the first page and I couldn’t put it down until I’d finished. Totally got lost in it.
Single mother Tess falls in love with surgeon Greg and quickly falls pregnant. Before she knows it, they’re married and relocating to the suburbs of Boston in America. But unsettling things keep happening, Tess’s son Joe is not adjusting well, Greg is rarely home because his work is so demanding and Tess is sure someone’s watching her. And then Tess discovers something about her new husband.
Not a twisty thriller, but a riveting, edgy, character-driven domestic suspense with pieces of a puzzle craftily woven together. The Other Child is superbly written with beautiful prose, eloquent structuring and believable characters. I absolutely loved it.
