The Girl Before by Rena Olsen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A different kind of suspense novel, The Girl Before follows Clara, who is torn from her husband and daughters when armed men invade her home. While it’s clear up front what’s going on, the story switches between past and present, creating some great tension.
The subject matter is quite dark, but skilfully tackled. The character development is very good, although I did find Clara and her refusal to believe the truth a bit of a stretch at times. The author has done very well to leave the reader to decide if Clara is a victim or a perpetrator. I thoroughly enjoyed The Girl Before and highly recommend.
