Perfect for Halloween! I absolutely loved this creepy, compelling story about a true crime podcast that reopens a murder from a woman’s childhood. The murderer is now appealing his conviction, and to stop him getting out of prison, Mia must go back to the scene of the crime and prove him guilty once and for all.
I loved the bits of horror/ghostly elements mixed in with the thriller. The atmosphere is seductive and sinister, the castle Mia goes to is practically a character itself, and that juxtaposition of glamour and dread is absolutely brilliant. I also loved the pressure the true crime podcast element adds to the story, raising questions about who gets to tell a story, and at what cost.
Please Enjoy Your Stay is a masterclass in suspense storytelling: gripping, immersive, and impossible to predict. Perfect for fans of horror-tinged psychological thrillers that dig into family secrets, unreliable memory, and the darker side of storytelling itself.
A slick, addictive thriller that grips you from the first page, I highly recommend.
