Where They Lie by Joe Hart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A powerful, captivating tale of a social worker with a tragic past who goes the extra mile for the children in her care. But when a plane crash kills a family she has placed a number of children with, and one of those children is blamed, she is determined to sort fact from fiction.
With a page-turning plot, brilliant pacing, and beautifully written characters, I was hooked from the start. The tension builds steadily, a corkscrew tightening with every page, but Where They Lie is so much more than just a thriller. It’s a powerful exploration of trauma and grief, while also shining a light on some dark family secrets along the way.
An evocative mix of suspense, grief, and family drama. Absolutely superb.
