What Lies Between Us by John Marrs
This book is just bonkers crazy, with two of the most devious and conniving women I’ve read in a long time! Dark, demented and dysfunctional are my three top words to describe it, with a toxic mother-daughter relationship at its core.
We open with Nina and Maggie having dinner together. But at the end of the dinner, Nina takes Maggie back to her room in the attic, and into the heavy chains she keeps her in there.
Initially as a reader I felt so much pity for Maggie, but as I found out the things she had done, my pity switched to Nina. But then all of that was turned on its head, and by the end I wasn’t sure if I had any pity left for either of them! lol
I wouldn’t say anything in here was remotely believable, but it’s a very fun read and there is a sort of genius to the plotting. I never knew just where the book was going, and there were so many twists I didn’t see coming. Compulsive and captivating, this is an intriguing read that will keep you on your toes.
