Swimming Lessons by Claire Fuller

A literary novel recommended by book clubs and lauded for its complex themes and beautiful writing. Structurally, Swimming Lessons moves seamlessly between the present, when Flora arrives to see her ailing father, and the past, with letters written by Flora’s mother, who went missing many years ago, and nobody knows if she’s alive or dead.
The highlight of the book was the excellent, clean prose, which beautifully described scenes in a way I could actually see them. An accomplished story in which fans of literary fiction will enjoy its depth and layers.
